Soundtrack News
It's becoming almost pointless to call this page anything other than "Soundtrack News", isn't it?

Trevor has got a lot on his plate, and has been spending 16-hour days at his Santa Barbara studio just trying to keep up. I had the good fortune to catch him at home - his first trip there in three months - and spoke with him about what he's working on now and what is still to come.

Gone in 60 Seconds
Now playing

In theaters now is "Gone in 60 Seconds", starring Oscar winners Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Robert Duvall, along with a strong supporting cast featuring Giovanni Ribisi, Delroy Lindo and Will Patton. However, some would argue that all these talented actors are but costars of Eleanor, a vintage Ford Mustang driven by Cage's character.

The film is producer Jerry Bruckheimer's remake of the 1974 cult classic, which was produced, written and directed by its star, Toby Halicki.

Texas Rangers
August 11, 2000

Warner Brothers' "Texas Rangers" is the story of a group of men who, after the Civil War, join together to form the legendary Texas Rangers and bring law and order to the west.

Heading the young cast is Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, along with Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That), Eric Johnson (Legends of the Fall), and Ashton Kutcher ("Kelso" on That 70's Show). Rounding things out are veterans such as Dylan McDermott (The Practice), Alfred Molina (Boogie Nights), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2), and Tom Skerritt (Alien, Picket Fences).

"Texas Rangers" is directed by Steve Miner, whose prior credits include Halloween: H20, Warlock, Friday the 13th Part 2, Soul Man, and Forever Young.

Remember the Titans
September 29, 2000

"Remember the Titans" stars Oscar winner Denzel Washington in the story of a black high school football coach who comes to a newly integrated West Virginia school. Based upon a true story, the film also stars Nicole Ari Parker (Boogie Nights), and Will Patton (Gone in 60 Seconds, Armageddon).

The film is distributed by Technical Black, a company formed by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer. Their focus is films that are not the usual Bruckheimer action spectaculars that have become his signature work.

Metal God (Working title)
2001

Remember a few years back when Rob Halford left Judas Priest and was replaced by then-unknown singer Tim "Ripper" Owens? This is his story. Sort of.

Mark Wahlberg (Three Kings, Boogie Nights) stars as a man who overnight goes from office supply salesman to frontman for one of the biggest metal bands on Earth. Directed by Stephen Herek (Mr. Holland's Opus, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure), the film, loosely based upon Owens' story, features a cast peppered with heavy metal veterans such as Jason Bonham, Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne) and Jeff Pilson (Dokken).

Still in production, the movie is set for release sometime in 2001 - and with a different name.

Whispers

Whispers is the story of a baby elephant, separated from and desperately searching for its mother. Using millions of feet of stunning footage shot over a period of 18 months, award-winning filmmakers Beverly and Dereek Joubert chronicle a true-life adventure about the journey of a heroic and unforgettable elephant.

The film's music has a strong African flavor, which Trevor brought with him from his upbringing in South Africa. Native instruments, an African choir as well as more familiar western instruments are woven together to create a score unlike anything else Trevor has composed.

The fate of Whispers remains unknown at this writing. There was at least one showing of the film in Denver, Colorado, but that may have just been a test screening. There is widespread speculation that "Whispers" may be released direct to video - perhaps in September - but that has not been confirmed.
