Basically, Yes management demanded that he drop all ties with his current management. Rick wasn't willing to do that and therefore is no longer in the band. Rick refused to discuss the issue further and regrets that politics came in the way of Yes once again. He hopes that Yes can make an album worthy of their name. At this point, he considers the issue closed and will not talk about it further. [Ed. - Sigh...] * * * * * * * * * * BROTHER OF MINE =============== From: IN%"bruford@wpi.WPI.EDU" "Thomas Justin Gannon" That section you referred to gave me a lot of trouble, too. My dad is a music educator, and usually fairly good with the time signatures. He listened and thought it was in 4/4. That makes sense, but don't "count" on it. Any time Bill has something to say about it, it will be strange. He just thinks in weird times like 17/8, 18/8, etc. Anyway, I'd go with your original theory, 4/4 with Bill-accents. For another treat, the ending of "I Would Have Waited Forever" has some great stuff which is all in 12/8 (I think). * * * * * * * * * * BROTHER OF MINE, PT. 2 ===================== From: IN%"d8sunch@dtek.chalmers.se" "Christer Sundin" To NFTE: ---8<--- In NFTE #67, mcglincj@bcvms.bc.edu (Joe McGlinchey) wrote: > Hello! I used to think it was 4/4 with really ODD accents, Actually, I think it's 6/8. Look at it like this: * x * * x * x * * x * * = bass drum, x = snare drum | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | That makes sense. (To me, at least! :) ---8<--- * * * * * * * * * * JON ANDERSON IN CHILE ===================== From: IN%"rfarias@dcc.uchile.cl" "Rodrigo Farias" Hi NFTE: I'll send (next week, I hope) a Jon Anderson Interview made here in Chile (April 19) two days before his concert in Santiago, including a review of the concert itself. You can guess how exciting it was...living here to see Anderson is like seeing the Halley ("once in your lifetime" :) I also have a video of the concert (app 65 min), it's mono but well edited (recorded from TV). The list of the songs is similar to the one submitted by the Puerto-Rican guy. Maybe some NFTE readers would like to get a copy... I cannot work as a video-duplicator, but could send two copies if anybody wants to distribute them... I was planning to send the tape(s) to Jeremy Weissenburger, for he's got the contacts (with all the Yesoteric tapes work already done)... but he'll probably reject anything meaning more job...If you think this will be of interest let me know. Last but not least: I've been trying to get a copy of the Yesoteric of the tapes, I'll send him/her a copy of the video (yes, I'm *desesperately* trying to get the tapes :) ...of course I'm offering the video PLUS the cost of the tapes and the shipping charges. I know (or at least can guess) how hard are working the duplicators, it's not a matter of time (I'm not asking for someone to send the tapes *right now*), but I suppose that sending the tapes to Chile is harder than sending them to anywhere in the states... BTW, I said "us" and "two copies" because WE are two yes-fans, with only one Internet adress :) [Ed.- Will someone help him out? There are no distributors for South America. Send him email to work it out. Thanks.] * * * * * * * * * * HOWE QUESTIONS ============== From: IN%"robinho@microsoft.com" "Robin Hood" Does anyone know if Steve Howe is going to be touring the US this year. Also Does anyone have a full listing of all the solo albums Steve Howe put out. [Ed.- "Beginnings", "The Steve Howe Album", "Turbulence", and the unreleased "The Grand Scheme Of Things".] I would like to ask for any tabalature or sheet music for songs by Steve Howe Solo/Yes i.e., Mood For A Day etc.... Mainly guitar stuff. This would be greatly appreciated, also Midi information. Thanks in advance... * * * * * * * * * * LYRICS ====== From: IN%"Adam.B.Cappio@Dartmouth.EDU" 16-MAY-1993 21:03:12.55 Are the lyrics for "Money" and "Abilene" posted anywhere? And how 'bout the background voice (Rick?) in "Money" babbling about this and that? Does he say, "And screw anything, and I'm trying to do that now with the country"? Just curious... * * * * * * * * * * WAKEMAN DATE ============ From: IN%"ramst11+@pitt.edu" "Richard A Meyer" Rick Wakeman will be playing Pittsburgh on Wednesday May 26 at Graffiti, and Cleveland Saturday May 29 at the Agora Ballroom. * * * * * * * * * * WAKEMAN QUERY ============= From: IN%"fans@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu" "Wot Gorrila?" Seeing as this is the Yes group, I thought this would be a good place to pose this question. Is Wakeman currently on tour? If so, could someone please e-mail me the tour dates, especially any in the Chicago, St. Louis, or general midwest area. Thanks for any information. [Ed. - See previous post. Also there were dates posted in NFTE #67.] * * * * * * * * * * DEAD PARROT DISKS ================= From: IN%"DMARKFI@INDYCMS.IUPUI.EDU" "David Markfield" I must follow-up on the post of Rolaant McKenzie regarding Dead Parrot Disks. When NFTE first got off the ground I supplied their name. I had some prior dealings with them and felt them to be a reputable firm. However, this is no longer the case. I must apologize to all for not posting something about it. Quite I honestly I had totally forgotten that I had submitted their name. Without getting into any specific allegations or potentially slanderous statements, I will merely state DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ORDER from this company. It is not a case as Rolaant said of buyer beware, it is IMHO sadly much worse than that. Honestly your liklihood of seeing either your merchandise or money ever again in dealing with this company is extremely unlikely....I cannot really go into any details suffice to say that your best bet is to find another source. (However, trust me my knowledge is more than just a consumer complaining of lack of merchandise or money) Additionally, I would request that we remove their name from the list of sources on the server or put a MAJOR disclaimer. [Ed. - If you've had problems with this company you might want to contact the Indiana Better Better Business Bureau, Indiana Chamber of Commerce and/or US Postal Inspector.] * * * * * * * * * * THOSE ALL-IMPORTANT ADDRESSES: ============================== New subscribers, contributions, questions/comments/criticism: Jeff Hunnicutt (Editor) hunnicutt@vxc.uncwil.edu NFTE Server (lyrics, backissues, discography, rarities, surveys, GIFs): Automated.
